COVID-19 Student Contact Tracing
Know each bus, each route and the contact details of students at risk – in real time
Contact tracing information is integral to providing student safety in today’s back-to-school environment. So integral that two international studies have each suggested that COVID testing and Contact Tracing are the key to reopening schools safely. [1]
Safe Fleet has developed a Contact Tracing solution that helps reduce COVID-19 fears, by putting the protective measures in place to help school districts respond to COVID-risk in a timely, efficient and accurate manner, better safekeeping the lives of everyone on-board your buses.
The Safe Fleet Student Contact Tracing solution is uniquely positioned to provide you with the most comprehensive view of potential risk on board your fleet – made possible by leveraging Safe Fleet key strengths in video surveillance, fleet management, wireless communications, student routing and parent notifications.
The system works as follows. The school district learns of a confirmed COVID infection and enters the affected student’s name and/or ID and a window of time up to a maximum of two weeks, into the system. This entry triggers a report detailing every bus, every route, and every student the COVID-positive student came in contact with en-route.
The school district can visually display the vehicles and routes in question on a map to get a better understanding of where the affected student has traveled. They can also view on-board video footage of each and every run to help further identify each point of contact the COVID-positive student has had. This functionality is critical, as many school districts may not have set and enforced seating plans, and others that do, may find that students have a difficult time adhering to those plans. Regardless of the best intentions and the most, well-thought out plans, only video footage is best positioned to show what really happened. The confidence in providing solid, accurate responses to emerging situations is what integration to video will provide – it’s essential.
In addition to mapping and video, the school district will receive the resulting report of every student determined to be at risk as well as their individual contact details. The school district can reach out individually to the families of each student, or they can use the Safe Fleet Parent Notification system to send out instant SMS messages to alert each parent of the potential COVID-related risk.
This functionality is critical as an aid in helping to prevent further spread of COVID infections and can not only provide life-saving information to help you combat the spread of COVID today, but also help protect students well into the future. Any number of scenarios can arise that require the need to know which bus a student has been on, who they have been in contact with and where they were last seen. Choosing a Safe Fleet Student Contact Tracing solution today will help you curb the spread of infection, better protect those in your care and establish a foundation to continue to protect students long past our immediate COVID needs.
