JOB SUMMARY
The Safe Fleet Installation and service technician will be responsible to install, setup, commission and troubleshoot issues with Safe Fleet waste equipment or other PTLW mobile products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Travel to various customer sites in the US and Canada to complete the installation of various types of Safe Fleet waste equipment. This may include the main computer, ECM Y connector, main touchscreen monitor, cameras (various vehicle locations) and any external sensors required such as lift arm, dual position lift sensor, proximity sensors and RFID readers
- Setup verify new units ensuring they come online, as well as final commission and testing so waste truck is ‘Ready for Dispatch’
- Troubleshoot system and components, effect repairs and/or replacements due to components being defective or damaged, including re-programming or re-imaging existing equipment
- Customer and technician training.

Requirements
- MECP Basic Installation Technician Certification, Electronics Engineering Technician Diploma from a College institution or relevant extensive field experience in the industry.
- Experience in a mobile installation’s environment (preference given to candidates experienced working with class 7 and above waste vehicles).
- A strong understanding of vehicle 12Vdc and 24Vdc electrical systems, including CAN, J1939 and J1708 systems
- Windows and basic networking and setup knowledge
- Ability to read various schematic types and track issues or find vehicle tap in points
- Proficient in the safe use of various hand tools including specialty crimpers
- Proficient in the safe use of various electronic tools
- Strong leadership and customer service skills
- The ability to work independently, and in an everchanging environment
- Ability to work safely at heights and around industrial equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Travel between states in the US - Must also be able to travel to Canada when required
